1. Start with where and how you will use it
The best cordless table lamp is the one that solves a real placement problem. Think of a nightstand whose outlet is behind the bed, a coffee table in the middle of the room or a dinner table where a cable would cross the surface. Battery power makes those positions easier to reach, but it does not automatically make the lamp bright enough for every task.
Write down the main job before choosing a shape. For relaxed evening light, a compact diffused lamp may fit well. For reading fine print, sewing or desk work, prioritize a directed beam and published brightness. For outdoor use, require an explicit outdoor rating. A rechargeable battery alone answers none of those questions.
A useful buying test is to picture the lamp in both daylight and darkness. It must fit the surface when switched off, place light where you need it when switched on and leave enough room for the things you use beside it. Measure the location rather than estimating scale from a styled photograph.
2. Compare runtime at the right brightness
Battery capacity and runtime are different specifications. A capacity in mAh describes the battery; it is not a promise of a certain number of hours. LED power, brightness settings and the lamp design all affect how long a charge lasts.
If a listing says up to a certain runtime, check the conditions attached to that number. The lowest dimming setting may last much longer than full brightness. Ask whether the stated figure describes the setting you expect to use, and whether it covers one evening or several evenings between charges.
We have verified an 1800 mAh rechargeable battery for our compact mushroom lamp, but we do not have a verified operating-time figure. Choose it for its format, controls and cordless accent-light role rather than an invented overnight-runtime promise. If predictable all-night illumination is essential, choose a model with documented runtime or consider a suitable plug-in light.
3. Check charging before you buy
USB-C can make charging convenient, but the connector does not tell you everything about electrical compatibility. Follow the lamp instructions for the power supply, and check what comes in the box. A supplied cable and a supplied wall adapter are not the same thing.
Our cordless mushroom lamp includes one USB charging cable and takes approximately three hours for a full charge. Plan a reachable charging spot on a stable, dry surface. Do not assume it can be left plugged in continuously or used while charging unless its instructions permit that use.
Charging convenience matters most when the lamp moves often. If it will live in one place beside an accessible outlet and run for long periods, a plug-in lamp may be the simpler choice. If you want to move it between a nightstand, shelf and dinner table, cordless use has a clearer benefit.
4. Separate brightness from light color
Lumens describe how much visible light a lamp produces. Kelvin describes the appearance of that light, from warmer to cooler. A cool setting does not prove that the lamp is brighter, and a warm setting does not establish that it is suitable for reading.
Our lamp offers 3000K warm, 4500K neutral and 6000K cool tones with touch dimming. Those choices let you change its appearance and intensity. Its lumen output is not verified, so we describe it as ambient and accent lighting rather than assigning a room coverage or task-light rating.
For comfortable reading, place the light where it reaches the page without exposing your eyes to a glaring source. A dedicated reading lamp can serve that job while a smaller cordless lamp adds softer light nearby. Mixing those two roles is often more practical than asking one decorative lamp to do everything.
5. Measure the lamp and the surface
Check total height, base width and shade width. On a dinner table, a lower lamp can keep conversation unobstructed. On a nightstand, the controls need to be easy to reach from bed. On a narrow shelf, base depth and stability matter more than a dramatic photograph.
The compact mushroom lamp measures approximately 3.9 inches wide by 6.3 inches high. That makes it an accent-size object, not a tall bedside reading lamp. Put a similarly sized object on your surface before buying to judge the space it will occupy.
Leave clearance from curtains, drinks and busy edges. A cordless design removes the cable during use, but the lamp still needs a secure position. If the surface gets bumped or used by children or pets, consider whether a different placement or a more substantial base is the better choice.
6. Choose a finish from the actual variant photos
Use the product gallery to check the finish you will order. Our current supplier-matched options are Gray, Light Gray, White and Black. The older blue and red options are not the current variants for this rechargeable model.
A light finish may blend with pale bedding or a white shelf; a darker one may provide contrast on a light table. Treat those as styling choices rather than promises about material or performance. Screen brightness and room lighting can change how a color looks.
Select the finish on the product page and check its matching supplier photo before adding it to your bag. Compare the dimensions at the same time. Color is easy to notice; size is the detail most likely to affect whether the lamp fits your space.
7. Do not confuse portable with weatherproof
A lamp can be easy to carry and still be intended for indoor use. Outdoor suitability requires a published rating and instructions for the conditions you plan to expose it to. A patio photo, metal-looking finish or rechargeable battery is not sufficient evidence.
We do not have a verified outdoor IP rating for our compact mushroom lamp. We recommend choosing it for dry indoor surfaces. If you want a lamp for rain, damp tables or a poolside setting, buy a product specifically rated and documented for that environment.
8. Compare the complete purchase, not just the price
The current price of our cordless mushroom lamp is $49.99 USD. It includes free tracked shipping to U.S. addresses. Estimated total delivery is 4–15 business days from order confirmation, including 1–3 business days for handling. It is not an immediate-delivery purchase.
Eligible unused items can be returned within 30 days of delivery under our return policy. Read the delivery and return terms before ordering, especially if the lamp is for an event or gift with a fixed date.
Buy the lamp if its compact size, indoor accent-light role, finish and charging routine fit your needs. Choose a different category if you need verified high-output reading light, an outdoor rating or documented all-night runtime. That decision matters more than a best-lamp label.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best cordless table lamp for a nightstand?
Choose by the job: a compact dimmable lamp for ambient light, or a directed lamp with published brightness for reading. Measure the nightstand and check charging access before choosing a model.
How long does a rechargeable table lamp last?
It depends on the model and brightness setting. Battery capacity alone does not establish runtime. Our 1800 mAh mushroom lamp does not have a verified operating-time figure.
Are cordless lamps good for reading?
Some are, if their output and beam suit the task. A decorative lamp with no verified lumen specification should not be assumed to replace a dedicated reading light.
Is the Avoren Home mushroom lamp rechargeable?
Yes. The $49.99 cordless model has USB-C charging, a built-in 1800 mAh battery and touch dimming. It is distinct from our USB-powered model that uses an attached cable.
