Are mushroom lamps bright enough to read by?

They are designed for ambient and decorative light rather than focused task light. For short spells of reading in bed they are usually comfortable, but for long reading sessions add a dedicated reading light aimed at the page.

Where should you put a mushroom lamp?

A bedside table, desk, shelf, console or side table all suit the compact shape. Keep the base fully supported, keep the touch control within easy reach, and leave a little open space around the shade so the rounded form reads as deliberate.

Are mushroom table lamps dimmable?

Some mushroom lamps in this collection are dimmable or offer multiple light colors, while others provide a fixed soft glow. Check the control and light details on the individual product page before choosing.

What is a mushroom lamp, and how do you choose one?

A mushroom lamp is a table lamp with a rounded, dome-shaped shade set low over a slim stem, so the shade screens the bulb and spreads a soft pool of light across the surface beneath it. It works best as accent and ambient lighting on a bedside table, desk, shelf, console or side table, rather than as the main light for a whole room. Before choosing one, check four things on the individual product page. First, power: some lamps in this range are USB powered and stay connected in use, while others carry a rechargeable battery and sit cable-free once charged. Second, control: touch control, a push button and an inline switch all behave differently in the dark. Third, light: some offer three light colors or stepless dimming, others give a fixed soft glow. Fourth, size and finish: confirm the listed dimensions suit your surface, and that the color you want is in stock.
